Walking on Day 3!?!

So... this happened today!!!  :)

Each doctor, nurse, physical therapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist is blown away by Jon's strength.  One PT even said, "I'm just shocked.  Like, really shocked. You are shocking me. Um, why don't you sit down for a bit. I'm not sure what to do with you."  LOL!  We told her it was all attributed to God at work and she responded, "Ya, it has to be."  :)

Our community group had given Jon a huge basket of gifts and treats - including Superman pajamas, complete with a Superman hat.  When he started walking down the hallway, I jokingly said, "Well look at you, Superman!" and it reminded me their gift so I ran back to his room and grabbed his hat.  He proudly walked around the entire 3rd ICU floor.

He is definitely my superhero!!!

  3. Is it just me, or is Jon's crooked smile kind of hot? Charm. For. Days.

Still praying for you—increasing strength, maximum patience, surprising joy. Love you both. Thanks for letting us ride this out with you, even from afar.

    2. The day before surgery, I posted a prayer asking God to save Jon's face because he doesn't have much going for him besides his good looks. Prayer answered.

  5. Above is Aly H., BTW. Not sure why it's calling my Unknown. Unless it's referring to my undiscovered genius.

  13. Deanna...words cannot express our shock as Cheryl filled us in over our last Disney breakfast. You and your family never left my thoughts and prayers during our 21 hour ride back to Illinois. You are such an inspiration! I pray for a full, fast healing (for Jon) and patience and energy (for you as a mother). God does have you both in the palm of his hands. Prayers will continue for you, Jon and all your babies as this journey continues...from Illinois!!

    1. Sarah, I can't imagine how shocked Cheryl was. I felt so badly that she was out of the loop. :( But glad she got to enjoy the vacation! :) Thank you for your prayers! Hope you guys had a blast together!

  14. Deanna, I'm friends with Stacie Cirualo and she told me about your husband the morning of his surgery. I was praying for him while I swam that a.m. at the gym and will continue to do so. As a Mom with three young children whose husband has had much, much less serious health issues (but which were exceptionally scary at the time), I can only imagine the array of fleeting emotions you're enduring. Know that a Redwood City family will be praying for you, Jon, and your kids through this journey of recovery.
May the God of Hope fill you with joy and peace as your trust in Him, so you may overflow with Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

  16. Jon and Deanna, I'm praying for you as you begin walking - again, physically; and anew, in this journey. Praying the only way I know: for God's incomprehensible peace (i.e., a peace that doesn't make any sense); for his miraculous healing touch; for grace and strength in the long todays and longer tomorrows; and for new visions and understanding of just who this God is that you serve - that you would be able to say, with Job, "my ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you."
