THE Update

Are you guys ready for THE update??? Just met with the neurosurgeon - after almost 11 hours, Jon is out of surgery! They were able to remove 95-97% of the tumor! (radiation will most likely take care of the final percentages) The Dr said it was very hard work - he had to take a break. But he said he could not ask for better results! The facial nerve is still intact on both the top and bottom. Jon can blink with both eyes!!! He has a little bit of weakness in the right side of his mouth/smile, but the Dr is hopeful that will improve. I got to see him briefly. The Dr proudly had him show off for me by opening and closing his eyes. What a gift!! Jon said he can't feel the right side of his lower face/mouth, but the Dr said again, he feels that will improve. He is in a lot of pain, so prayer for that would be appreciated. The nurse told me that this is when the hard work begins. So the road to recovery begins now. But we do it with grateful hearts, a (mostly) tumor-less brain, 2 blinking eyes, and one charming smile.
